Girls Aloud member Kimberley Walsh said that the band would only get back together for a big occasion

We still bust out the whole dance routine to Love Machine off whenever we get the chance, and we know all the lyrics to Sound of the Underground like it was yesterday. But if you hoping that the five most glam girls of noughties pop were going to get back together for some new music some time soon, we’re sorry to break it to you that it might be time to stop the wishful thinking.

1/5 of the Girls Aloud and new mama Kimberley Walsh has spoken to the Mail on Sunday to say that a reunion is pretty much off the cards for the gals.

‘The band’s over in my head at least.’

The band were put together by Louis Walsh on Popstars: The Rivals back in 2002, and after a hiatus, released one last album on their 10th anniversary in 2012, before finally splitting in 2013.

‘For Nadine the last years were a job: she just came back from America to work. Which was fine. But I don’t think anyone wants to get together now.’

‘We were young girls when we got in the band, and now we are women.’
Like Beyonce herself sang, you’re a grown woman.

With Kimberly becoming  a mum last in September 2014, a lot has certainly changed since the GA days, but her, Nicola Roberts and X Factor judge Cheryl Fernandez-Versini are still pretty close, with Kimmy and Chezza both attending Nicola’s 30th birthday party recently.

But someone who didn’t even get an invite was fellow former bandmate Sarah Harding. And she made sure we all knew about it when she spoke to The Sun.

‘I didn’t get a f***ing invite to Nicola’s birthday! But you know what? I am independent so whatever. I nearly tweeted about it but I thought I better not. If I had an invite I could have gone but I didn’t.

Eep! If we needed more proof that a Girls Aloud reunion was pretty unlikely – nothing hurts more than not getting an invite!

There is still a slim chance though. Kimberley said that they’d only get back together is there was a ‘big enough occasion to warrant’ it.

How big are we talking Kim? Are we talking about Prince William becoming the King kind of big? Or our Aunty Eileen’s 60th birthday? Cus we’re love to get her some live music for her shindig…
