After fans panned Sarah Harding's appearance in Corrie, it seems her former Girls Aloud bandmate Kimberley Walsh had trouble watching too...
Her recent appearance on Coronation Street was widely panned by viewers, who took to social media to slam her ‘cringe’ acting, and now Sarah Harding‘s fellow Girls Aloud star Kimberley Walsh has chimed in on her former bandmate’s appearance in the soap, describing seeing her on the show as ‘weird’.
New mum Kimbers has admitted that she struggled to watch Sarah when she made her debut on the iconic soap back in July.
Sarah’s only appeared in four episodes of the ITV show before her character was axed, with fans slating her ‘cringe’ performance.
Speaking to the Mirror, Kimberley said: ‘It’s weird seeing Sarah in Corrie. I don’t think I can look at it like anyone else. It’s like Sarah, ‘What are you doing? Get out of the Street’.
‘It doesn’t seem right,’ she added. ‘I can’t seem to put her in the character. It’s just funny, I can’t get my head around it. It’s weird.’
Like Sarah, Kimberley has also swapped singing for acting, and is currently starring in Sweet Charity in London’s West End alongside Denise Van Outen. She’s due to move on to star in Elf from October too.
And it seems she’s enjoying the freedom of being an actress rather than one-fifth of a girl band, telling the paper: ‘That’s the good thing about where I am now. I can actually pick and choose a little bit more.’
‘I’d like to do some more acting at some point so hopefully that will be next.’
Meanwhile, despite the bad Corrie reviews, Sarah is hoping to continue with her acting career too.
Admitting recently on This Morning that soaps are ‘a lot harder because it’s such a quick turnaround,’ the blonde star told Eamonn Holmes: ‘I think I’ll stick to films!’
She also shrugged off the Corrie criticism, saying: ‘I enjoyed it, it’s off my bucket list now. It’s my favourite soap. I was only ever asked to do four episodes.’
