Spencer Matthews' girlfriend Lauren Hutton was given a hard time over a photo she posted on Instagram, but she looks fab at the Jeans for Genes event

Last week, Lauren Hutton found herself fending off unpleasant comments on her Instagram, but when she stepped out at the Jeans for Genes event in London last night (September 2) she looked slim, healthy and happy.

Lauren, who’s dating her Made In Chelsea co-star Spencer Matthews, came under fire for posting a holiday snap where her ribcage was clearly visible.

‘Ridiculous! Look at those ribs!’ wrote one commenter, while others speculated on her health, writing things like ‘Not healthy and not good to look at either.’

Others were more insulting with their language, posting comments such as ‘Yuck!’ and ‘That’s so gross!’

But at the Jeans for Genes event, Lauren showed off a slim but curvaceous figure that looked anything but unhealthy. Posing on the carpet in a red top, jeans and thigh-high boots, the Made In Chelsea star looked happy and well.

Unusually, she took the time to respond to some of her detractors on Instagram when the negative comments flooded in, and brushed off the criticism with some sarcastic responses.

‘I’m really happy I have a ribcage…holds my organs in nicely,’ she wrote.

Other commenters pointed out that the ones criticising her figure would be less inclined to post similar comments below a picture of someone they deemed overweight, which is a good point. Being healthy and happy with your body, whatever your size, is the most important thing, and we reckon Lauren might just agree with Cheryl Fernandez-Versini – who called for a body-shaming law to crack down on the criticism.
