The former X Factor judge says it’s nearly all over for the boys…
The former X Factor judge shocked fans when he said he though the foursome only had one more album in them. ‘I think there’s one more album and that’s it,’ the Irish music manager said.
He added their success is thanks to his old boss media mogul Simon Cowell. What’s Louis after? Unlike him to be nice to Simon!
‘They’ve had an amazing, amazing career – who would have thought? Not me, ever. One Direction had one thing going for them and that was Simon,’ he said.
He continued: ‘Simon made it all happen. Nobody ever gives him the credit for what he does, but he and Sony made it happen. He put them together – with my help, and with Nicole [Scherzinger], because I always wanted to do a boyband. But it was afterwards he got to work. I know Syco’s operation and when they’re on it, there’s nobody better.’
The 63-year-old also said he doesn’t think any of the four members – Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan are solo star material, but if he was to bet on any of them doing well on their own, it would be Harry.
‘They’ve had an amazing run. I don’t know who’s going to be a [solo] star. If I was betting on anybody, I’d put my money on Harry because he’s got the ambition.’
Earlier this month Liam, 21, said some time out for the band was definitely on the cards. Talking about whether it was true they were going to park their workload after the fifth album, Liam said: ‘That is partially true, yeah, we are meant to do five albums. We do need a little bit of a break. I’m not gonna go around lying to people but we have been on the road for five years so I don’t think people can be mad at us for that reason.’
He added: ‘I noticed that last time I said this on the radio everything has just gone bananas like ‘oh, One Direction are taking a break. Yeah, we’re probably gonna take a little bit of a break but I think that we just to be expected really.’
