As she's pictured hiding her ring finger, some fans think Louise Redknapp may be using this attention to her advantage
It’s been more than 10 weeks since Louise Redknapp and husband Jamie were hit by rumours that their marriage is in trouble, but the couple still have yet to formerly address the claims.
Despite this, Louise, 42, has caused a stir on Instagram with some shots showing her hiding her ring finger, and it hasn’t gone unnoticed with her followers. One ludicrous comment read, ‘This is looking like a fake split up… she wants her celeb career back.’
Another wrote, ‘Desperate for recognition… mum wants to be a pop star again.’
Now understands Jamie, 44, has warned Louise that if they don’t address the situation soon, it could backfire on her plans for a musical comeback.
‘Louise has never offered up her relationship to the public and doesn’t see why she should start now,’ says a well-placed source.
‘But by staying quiet she’s risking the public filling in the gaps with wild speculation. Jamie has kept his head down, and he’ll continue to support Louise.’
Former Eternal singer Louise is currently playing Sally Bowles in a new production of Cabaret alongside her Strictly Come Dancing co-star Will Young, and we’re told her friends are wondering why she simply hasn’t given a statement to stop the rumours circulating.
‘Of course the split isn’t fake and it’s clear it’s deeply affecting Louise. The idea that she would use what has been happening to her to her advantage is ludicrous. She wants the speculation to stop but, at the same time, she doesn’t think she and Jamie need to explain themselves to anyone. As far as she’s concerned it’s a matter for them as a couple,’ says our source.
It was previously suggested that Louise’s newfound independence following her time on Strictly last year had led to her marriage to the former footballer to crumble.
But Now understands that, behind closed doors, Jamie and Louise are doing all they can to stay together.
Our insider adds, ‘The word “divorce” isn’t something that gets thrown around between them. Louise and Jamie are still trying to carry on as normal and trying to work around her newly hectic schedule.’
It’s something relatively new to the couple, as for years Louise favoured a role at home with her children and was rarely seen in public.
‘They’ve got two sons and are not prepared to throw away 20 years,’ our insider says. ‘It might be a bit tense right now, but Louise and Jamie are confident they can and will get their marriage back on track.’
