Hearts going out to Malin, her mother, and their family
Malin Andersson had fans worried last week after she posted a series of cryptic messages on social media.
With the most recent referring to wanting to be a little girl again and ‘climb into my mother’s lap and cry until the hurt goes away,’ many assumed that she was referring to the devastating health issues her mum has been battling.
And now, the Love Island star and make-up artist exclusively told Now that the return of her mum’s cancer has been weighing heavily on her mind – and that her mum is having a breast removed today to combat the disease.
Catching up with 23-year-old Malin on Wednesday (14th September), she told us that things in her personal life are difficult.
‘There’s a bad atmosphere at home,’ she began. ‘Mum’s been diagnosed with breast cancer again. She first found out when she turned 50, and got a letter that invited her to get a scan, 15 years ago. And when she turned 65 in August, she got the same letter in the post to go for a check-up, and then she found out that she had it again.
‘But this time, she’s getting her breast removed – she’s actually going into the theatre in about an hour and a half.’
Malin also made a sweet post to Instagram today, showing how much she was thinking about her mother at this tough time:
Malin announced the news of her mother’s cancer to the public in August, to which she’s received floods of support from fans up and down the country. Sadly, she lost her father to cancer at the age of one – and though there’s a history of the disease in her family, she hasn’t yet been checked out herself.
She also confirmed that her brief romance with Celebs Go Dating contestant Jeavon Stretton was off, as he was unsupportive during times in which she needed to be close to her mum:
‘I completely sacked it off because it was getting really intense and cringey. It was too much. I needed to see my mum, but he didn’t like that. He knew the reason, but he just thought I was chatting crap. I sent him a message, and then an hour later he was like ‘typical’, ‘you’ve got a track record for doing this’ – so I ended it!’
Sounds like Malin got a lucky escape there…! All at Now send out love to Malin, her mum and their family, and well wishes for her speedy recovery.
