Just when we didn't think it could hurt anymore...
Some things are just made to go together. Gin & tonic. Mac & cheese. And, more than anything, Mel & Sue.
So you’ll no doubt join us in letting out a little yelp of sadness to see Mel Giedroyc in her first presenting role since quitting The Great British Bake Off – WITHOUT Sue Perkins.
As if we weren’t in enough pain already following the pun-tastic duo’s decision to leave Bake Off after the BBC lost the rights to the show.
Mel is set to host new BBC show Let It Shine alongside the man with the best collection of spangly jackets we’ve ever known, Graham Norton.
The show is the brainchild of Gary Barlow, and will see Gaz on the hunt for performers to star in a new musical based on Take That.
The show’s official Twitter account shared the first picture of the hosting and judging line-up today, revealing that Dannii Minogue, Martin Kemp and Amber Riley will make up the panel putting contestants through their paces.
And obviously Gary was there too, looking all gorgeous and manly as only The Barlow can.
Of the judging panel, Gary said: ‘Dannii, Martin and Amber all bring so much to this panel with the breadth of experience in music, acting, stage and TV. I can’t wait to get started – it’s going to be epic!’
Former X Factor judge Dannii was equally pumped, saying: ‘I’m so excited to be returning to the UK and joining the judging panel of Let It Shine.
‘To be a performer, you must have a burning desire to perform, then you train at all the skills you need to shine. This show gives everyone that chance. I can’t wait.’
Meanwhile 80s pop god Martin revealed he was looking for acts with ‘charisma’ and promised to offer ‘constructive’ criticism, whilst Glee actress Amber said: ‘I am so excited to see what the UK talent has to offer and share some of my experience on the stage to help them reach their full potential.’
The show is set to hit BBC One in 2017 – unlike Bake Off, which will air on Channel 4.
