Celebs at the Met Ball follow the Manus x Machina theme in a spectacular way...

The Met Gala is one of the most eagerly-anticipated nights in showbiz and we LOVE checking out how our fave celebs have interpreted the theme each year.

For the 2016 shindig, celebrating the launch of the Manus x Machina exhibition, things went pretty futuristic with lots of shimmer, sparkle and seriously jaw-dropping dresses.

Have a flick through our gallery of all the outfits you NEED to see from the night – go on, you won’t regret it.

With such a futuristic theme for the event held at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, several star guests in attendance opted for suitably modern looks for the glamorous evening.

Beyonce certainly got everybody talking when she rocked up in an eye-wateringly clingy latex number whilst Oscar-winning actress Alicia Vikander chose a mini dress with a red PVC-look bustier detail.

Others decided to go for some mesmerising metallics. Kim Kardashian, Demi Lovato and Gigi Hadid were amongst the famous ladies to go for this look.

Gigi in particular made her ensemble even more futuristic by matching with her boyfriend Zayn Malik. The former One Direction star added robot-like arms to his dapper suit – now that’s a new look, right?

Zayn wasn’t the only star to try something different though. Taylor Swift continued her style transformation by teaming her newly platinum blonde locks with a cut-out snakeskin-look mini dress and her pal Lorde experimented in a bouffant frock which looked suitable for a prom.

Oh, and have you SEEN Claire Danes‘ stunning Cinderella-like outfit by Zac Posen? It even lights up – we love.

As usual there were some daring ladies who decided to flash the flesh for the event too. Rita Ora didn’t shy away from showing her curves off in a feather-embellished gown and Emily Ratajkowski gave everyone a glimpse of side-boob in her monochrome number.
