Alberto Alvarez loves working with such a 'great group of young men'

Michael Jackson‘s former bodyguard credits One Direction with getting him back on track after the star’s death.

Alberto Alvarez, 36, called the emergency services when Michael collapsed at his LA home in 2009 and he gave crucial evidence at Dr Conrad Murray‘s trial for involuntary manslaughter.

‘Working for the boys has pulled me through a terrible time,’ says Alberto

‘It really helped me cope with what happened three years ago when Michael died.’

Alberto met 1D when he was drafted in to deal with their crazy US fans at the VMAs in LA and he hasn’t looked back since.

‘They’re a great group of young men and they have great talent,’ Alberto tells The People.

‘Now every time they are here I work with them.

‘I’ve been through the mill but I am coming out of the other side.’
