Is there still bad blood between these two?
The singer gave an incredibly awkward response when quizzed about Chezza at a press launch for the new series of the talent show on Thursday – by totally BLANKING the question.
It all started when Nicole, 38, was asked about 33-year-old Chezza’s absence from the programme this time around, with a reporter saying: ‘You and Cheryl – you didn’t get to meet her on the panel this year?’
Scherzy chose to ignore the reference to the Girls Aloud star and simply sung the praises of fellow female judge Sharon Osbourne.
‘I mean Mrs O is the – I call her OG, the original gangster,’ she explained.
‘She’s the mama. I’m really close with her. The people on the panel – that’s my family.’
The undeterred journo then pushed for a response on Cheryl even further by asking Nicole: ‘But not disappointed that you missed out on Cheryl then?’
A seemingly baffled Nicole pulled a confused expression and looked to her left, presumably to an assistant.
The reporter asked again ‘Cheryl Fernandez-Versini?’ before getting the hint and declaring: ‘OK, let’s move on’
Cue a pretty icy glare from Scherzy and all-round outrageous levels of awkwardness.
There’s long been some bad blood between Nicole and Cheryl ever since Ms Scherzinger replaced the latter as a judge on the American version of The X Factor after Chezza got the boot just a couple of weeks into filming.
Then Cheryl slated the Pussycat Dolls star in her 2012 autobiography My Story, describing how Nicole apparently started singing Chezza’s solo hit Promise This to her during their first meeting.
‘I swear to God the woman sang the whole song, to my face,’ Cheryl wrote. ‘It was just so awkward.’
As awkward as Nicole’s blanking, though?
