See who Denise Van Outen's drinking partner was last time she was in Walford!
BBC bosses haven’t said much about the role the presenter and ex-Strictly Come Dancing contestant will play, but they’re promising she’ll send ‘sparks flying’ as her character wastes no time getting close to one of Walford’s men. Oo-er!
Ian Beale maybe? Twinkle toes/snake hips Jake Wood who plays Max Branning, perhaps? We cannot wait!
Denise, 40, who used to host Channel 4’s Big Breakfast says: ‘I’m really excited to be joining EastEnders as I’ve been a fan of the series for years.
‘2015 marks the show’s 30th anniversary, so it feels even more special to be part of this year’s celebration.’
But while we CANNOT WAIT to see her throw the cat among the Walford pigeons, this isn’t the first time Denise has visited The Queen Vic.
In 2008, when Denise was a judge on the BBC’s West End talent show I’d Do Anything, she took the last seven Nancys to get a taste of what life was like on set.
And she didn’t take just anyone as her drinking partner. Oh no! She was joined by the Queen of the Vic herself, Barbara Windsor – who played meddling landlady, Peggy Mitchell on and off for 20 years!
She and judge Denise Van Outen whisked contestants Jessie Buckley, Rachel Tucker and the other singers to the ‘real’ Queen Vic in London’s East End as they battled it out for a role in Oliver!
And there were also rumours in 2013 that Denise may join the cast as the new landlady for The Queen Vic. There was reportedly a string of secret meetings with soap bosses, who believed she could help the ratings on the show.
A source, at the time said: ‘It could be a brilliant casting move. She would be a perfect addition to the team with her stunning looks and hugely impressive acting credentials.’
It’s not Denise‘s first TV acting role. As a teenager she featured in shows including police drama The Bill.
