Actor was threatened in Darfur

George Clooney has revealed that a child threatened him with a gun in Darfur.

The Gravity actor was making a documentary about genocide in Western Sudan back in 2007 when he was confronted by the boy and his weapon.

‘We got stopped in the middle of nowhere, where we shouldn’t have been,’ says George, 52.

‘A little 10-year-old kid came over with a Kalashnikov assault rifle to my head, basically wanted to get us out of the truck.’

George hasn’t let the scare stop him from returning to the region several times since and he’s clearly passionate about his role as a United Nations peace envoy.

But the actor insists he’ll never become a politician as the logistics of it puts him off.

‘I like the ability to shine light and make it loud,’ George tells Variety Magazine.

‘But the idea of administrating and legislating – what a nightmare.’
