What do you make of One Direction's new single?

One Direction just proved they’re still the biggest boy band in the world.

They may be a member down these days, but that didn’t stop Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson surprising fans around the globe by unexpectedly releasing new track, Drag Me Down.

The song, which is now available to stream, is the bands first release since Zayn Malik quit just over four-months-ago in the middle of their On The Road Again world tour.

With no teaser or hint of an announcement, the band simply tweeted a link to the track at 07:00am, as their millions of fans then went into an absolute meltdown.

‘OMG KILLD ME DADDYS,’ one rather excited, questionably illiterate, fan wrote.

While another then tweeted: ‘”Zayn who?? cant wait till zayn sees they topped the charts without him to show payback!!!”‘

The bands first release as a four piece comes just 48 hours after former member Zayn Malik announced he’s signed a solo record deal with RCA.

After tweeting his excitement at the new direction he’s taking his career, the former boybander also specified that was the real reason he left the band.

‘I guess I never explained why I left,’ Zayn tweeted to his 15 million followers. ‘It was for this moment to be given the opportunity to show you who i really am! #realmusic #RCA !!’

Drag Me Down is believed to be the lead single from the bands yet to be announced fifth studio album, expected to be released towards the end of the year.
