Little Mix star Perrie Edwards clearly knows how to get over a break-up - and it involves your girlfriends, a string of hot selfies and a big bag of crisps...
Women the world over let out a collective sign of sadness for Perrie Edwards when news broke that Zayn Malik had broken off his engagement to the Little Mix star (by text message, no less). And that’s because we’d all been there. And by ‘there’ we mean heartache-ville.
Yet, to her credit, Perrie is totally bossing life after Zayn – and she’s documented it all on her Instagram page (check out some of her snaps in the gallery above). And in doing so, she’s given us a faultless guide for getting through a split – and coming out smiling.

1. Have fun with your girlfriends
Break-ups are where your BFF really earns their stripes; it’s pretty much the first rule of friendship that they should be at your side within minutes of you being dumped, armed with chocolate, wine and a long list of ‘fun things we’re going to do in the next week’.
Luckily, Perrie has three BFFs in the shape of Little Mix bandmates Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwell – and the girls have been making sure their girl isn’t sitting around sulking/resisting the urge to call Zayn in tears.
One fun snap shared by Perrie shows her and Jade hanging out with Mickey and Minnie Mouse, whilst other shots – taken during Little Mix’s visit to Las Vegas – show the girls living it up in Sin City, toasting in the back of a limo before hitting the slots for #EpicFunTimes.
2. Treat yourself to a little kindness
When you’re nursing a broken heart, nothing helps ease the blow by treating yourself to a little kindness – whether that’s a buying the frock you’ve had your eye on for ages, indulging in a spa session or maybe just downing an entire bag of Cheetos.
Perrie, it seems, went for option three. And whilst she seemed to regret the move – captioning a picture she shared of the bag in question: ‘Didn’t need this jumbo bag of Cheetos. Didn’t need to eat them all in one go either!’ – we say: (tr)eat your heart out, girl! Now is definitely the time to go easy on yourself…
3. Enjoy some downtime
With sleepless nights spent wondering just what went wrong to mammoth, snotty crying sessions, break-ups take it out of you, so it’s important to give yourself chance to recoup by spending some time unwinding (or at least trying to).
And Perrie’s being doing just that. During her trip to Vegas, she managed to sneak off to a serene-looking Japanese garden for a bit of me time (captioning a shot she shared ‘Mmm beautiful’). She also managed to spend a day by the pool, sharing a snap of herself looking new levels of gorgeous in a cute high-waisted bikini.
4. Come out fighting – by showing him what he’s missing
It’s natural to want to hurt your ex just like he’s hurt you (just like it’s natural to want to sit in your pyjamas all day whilst you work your way through a tub of ice cream and watch back to back weepy films), either by calling him every name under the sun (fine with your friends, but resist the temptation to do it to his face/phone) or even inflicting physical violence on him (NEVER cool, FYI).
But, classy as ever, Perrie has refrained from publicly dissing her former fiancé and instead chosen the other route to payback: commonly known as ‘showing him what he’s missing’. Just one day after news of their split broke, Perrie posted a SMOKIN’ snap of herself in a white lace dress. Since then, she’s shared shot after shot of her looking incredible – sending a firm ‘your loss, sucker’ message to Zayn in the process!
