The cracks are starting to show in the star’s relationship with his toygirl Emily

Looking tired and tense as they left Sugar Hut nightclub in Essex last week, Peter Andre and his girlfriend Emily McDonaugh seemed a world away from the loved-up couple who didn’t have a care in the world when they first started dating.

So what could possibly have changed?

Although the pair are still very much in love, friends say their 16-year age gap and Peter’s exhausting work schedule have started to take their toll on the relationship.

The couple have spoken at length about how they’re trying to make things work between them, but they can’t see a way out of the situation just yet.

However, Pete’s keen to keep things moving between them, even though spending quality time together is limited.

The night out at the popular TOWIE club was during a rare break in Pete’s schedule, which has cranked up recently thanks to a number of professional and personal commitments.

Pete thinks the world of Ems, but they haven’t been seeing much of each other lately,’ a source says.

‘He’s got his hands tied with the kids, his court battle with his ex-wife Jordan and all this promotional work.

‘When they do get together, Emily wants to go out, but he’s so exhausted he just wants to stay in.

‘He’s hoping it’s nothing serious and they’ll work it out because where there’s a will, there’s a way.

‘They try to make time for each other, but it’s difficult.

Emily’s in Bristol and Pete lives in Brighton when he’s in the UK.

‘They aim to see each other three times a week, but that’s been virtually impossible recently.’

The source says there have been other signs that are making the generation gap obvious, though his publicist denies this.
