Forget a sun-soaked holiday - Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie had other plans for after their wedding

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie aren’t exactly your average couple, what with being global superstars ’n all, so we suppose it’s only right that they didn’t follow a conventional route when it came to taking a honeymoon..

The couple – who have six children together – tied the knot in a secret ceremony last year after nearly ten years as an item but didn’t jet off on vacation afterwards like many newlyweds do.

Instead they took the rather unusual route of launching into a tough work project together which saw them depict a married couple with problems – erm, not your average start to wedded bliss, is it?

Brad, 51, opens up about the decision to work on upcoming film By The Sea post-wedding in a new interview with V Magazine and admits that it might not have been the best idea.

‘It was probably not the wisest way to spend a honeymoon,’ the actor says. ‘But then again, fighting to make something together…what better metaphor for marriage?’

True, dat. The movie, which was written and directed by Angelina, marks the first time she and Brad Pitt have starred alongside each other since 2005 caper Mr & Mrs Smith but it’s a much more serious tale this time around.

‘It’s not a film that responds to the current zeitgeist or storytelling,’ explains Brad. ‘Rather, a quiet, mature look at the challenges of love and adult loss. Mr & Mrs Smith this is not.

‘By the Sea deals with that period when the honeymoon is well over and the couple is faced with the banality of every day and the pains of the unplanned.’

So let’s get this straight – Brangelina decided to work on a project about the end of the honeymoon period just as they were embarking on their actual honeymoon? Brave couple!

Luckily, despite the difficult subject matter, all seemed to go well on set and Brad Pitt admits that he loved working with 40-year-old Ange.

‘If I’m going to work, I want to work with my wife,’ he says.

‘Surprising how much I enjoy the direction of my wife. She’s decisive, incredibly intuitive, knife-sharp, and I might say, sexy at her post. I trust her with my life.’

Ooh, we can’t WAIT to see this movie!
