Kate Middleton and Prince William are staying close to home

Prince William could well be whisking away new bride Kate Middleton to…the Scilly Isles.

The couple have drawn up a list of UK destinations to slip away to after they become man and wife and the Cornish islands are reported to be top of the list.

William enjoyed a holiday in the Scilly Isles with his parents and brother Harry in 1989 and it’s the perfect romantic honeymoon location – cars are limited and nightclubs are banned.

William and Kate are acutely aware that in these difficult times being seen to take a luxury honeymoon would not look good and send out entirely the wrong signal,’ says a highly-placed aide.

‘Neither has lavish tastes and a domestic location is ideal to ensure they are secure.’

The couple were widely tipped to be planning a honeymoon in Kenya – the location of 28-year-old William‘s proposal.

But their wish for a British break match their low-key wedding plans, which include a car rather than a carriage for Kate, 29, and donations to charity instead of wedding gifts.

Kate and William‘s discussions about their honeymoon take place with a close circle of friends,’ a Buckingham Palace spokesman tells the Sunday Mirror.

‘We cannot comment on what destination they will finally choose.’
