It took an emotional toll
Ricky Norwood has opened up about the webcam sex scandal that saw him axed from EastEnders – and revealed the whole incident left him in a ‘deep depression’.
BBC bosses took action against the Celebrity Big Brother star, who played ‘Fatboy’ on the soap, after a video leaked online of Ricky performing a sex act while smoking a spliff-looking cigarette.
On tonight’s episode (18th August), Ricky reveals the emotional toll the whole incident took on his life.
Speaking to Renee about the scandal, he said: ‘There was a particular female that sold me out… I went into deep depression, I didn’t want to leave my house.READ THE LATEST CELEBRITY NEWS
‘I got suspended from my job for two months; I held my hands up. When it came to the end of the contract, it was the end of the contract. Normally I’d get a renewal… I was happy… I was only supposed to be there for three months, I was there just under six years.’
Once the video leaked online, a BBC spokesperson said: ‘Ricky Norwood has been suspended from the show for a period of 2 months with immediate effect.
‘In addition, Ricky would like to apologise to EastEnders’ viewers for any offence caused and for bringing the show into disrepute.’
Since then the actor has kept himself mostly out of the public eye, until coming on the Celebrity Big Brother. Hopefully this whole show has helped him move on.
