The star finally felt brave enough to make the admission

Saira Khan revealed she was molested by a male family member when she was only 13-years-old in an emotional episode of Loose Women.

The panellist opened up about the incident on Thursday’s episode, stating that the story of a gang rape victim who went on to help other survivors inspired her to speak about the experience.

She said: ‘I would never have said this before but a male member of the family came into my bedroom when I was 13 and did things to me.’

She then broke down in tears and continued: ‘For any young child or woman, someone touching them without permission is WRONG.

‘It’s not culturally acceptable or religiously acceptable and it happens everyday.

‘Sorry guys, I wasn’t expecting to say it and I’m only saying it now as the man is dead. I told my mother and my brothers years later and my mum was amazing. I feel like I’ve got one over him now.

‘But I feel inspired not to keep it private.’

The audience gave the Celebrity Big Brother star a standing ovation after the emotional admission. The show took a quick break for her to compose herself before she thanked everyone for the support.

Twitter was then flooded with messages of thanks and support for Saira.
