Sam Smith has shared his new tattoos on Instagram, but do they give a glimpse into his love life?
Sam Smith sings lyrics for a broken heart, but recently the melancholy mega-sensation has spoken more about his personal life.
None of this is more apparent than on his Instagram, where this morning he’s shared his four new tattoos by artist Miso.
Typically for dear old Sam, they are mostly of the romantic variety. His first tattoo is the equality sign on his wedding finger, ‘It shows my views on gay marriage and equality for all x’.
Sam draws on historical influences for his second hand tattoo, which is the equality sign turned on it’s head, ‘this tattoo is inspired by one of the oldest tattoos ever found on a mummified body that was found buried alone in the ice.’
Oh dear, that’s slightly less cheery.
Then the final one is ‘alone’ on his left arm. Oh Sam, ‘this is just me being a melancholy twat haha. I do see it as a small positive thou… No longer lonely… Just alone… which is ok x’.
Hey, we wouldn’t have you any other way! With the ‘Stay With Me’ singer taking a brief hiatus from singing in order to find love – telling Entertainment Tonight that, ‘It’d be good to actually spend some time dating I think’ – is this confirmation that this plan isn’t going so well?
At least his fans are there for him, with one sweet commenter saying, ‘You will never be alone, we are with you!’
You’d think four Grammys under his belt, two super successful albums and a Bond song before the age of twenty-five would make it all a little easier, but then Sam hasn’t exactly got low standards. (Rightly so!)
Only last month he tweeted, ‘I am looking for love. Real love. Ridiculous, inconvenient, consuming, can’t live without each other love.’
We believe in you Sam. Keep trying and if that doesn’t work, we’re sure another album couldn’t hurt…
