Why Katie Price made last minute decision to back out of bridesmaid duties at Kerry Katona's wedding to George Kay
Just six weeks after giving birth to her daughter Bunny, you can’t blame Katie Price if she’s feeling a bit self-conscious about her post-baby body.
Even though we think she’s looking fantastic, Katie was so nervous about her figure that she was forced to pull out of her important role as bridesmaid at her close friend Kerry Katona‘s marriage to former professional rugby player George Kay, 34, just days before the wedding.
Kerry told how Katie let her know about her shock decision just one week before the big day.
Any bride-to-be will know that bombshells like that are the last thing you need in the run up to your wedding.
But luckily Kerry, 34, took Katie’s last minute withdrawal well and the pair are still on good terms.
Kerry said of Katie’s decision: ‘She told me the week before that she didn’t feel comfortable wearing the dress. I’m not going to put pressure on someone who has just had a baby to wear something they really don’t want to wear so I said to her: “Don’t worry, bring your own clothes and just come and enjoy yourself.”‘
Katie still attended the wedding as a guest alongside husband Kieran Hayler, her one-year-old son Jett and six-week-old daughter Bunny, and wore an animal print jumpsuit with skyscraper grey suede heels.
Kerry added in her interview in OK! magazine: ‘She had her two babies with her so her hands were completely full but she had a lovely time and it was just great seeing her.
‘She was so upset about it because she’s such a loyal friend and she didn’t want to feel like she’d let me down or upset me. One of the groomsmen dropped out too because he was stuck in Singapore, so it actually evened up the numbers.’
The Gloucestershire wedding was Kerry’s third marriage and other famous guests included Kerry’s bandmates Liz McClarnon (who was also a bridesmaid), Natasha Hamilton and her boyfriend 5IVE’s Ritchie Neville, Blue star Anthony Costa and Mel B’s sister Danielle Brown (also a bridesmaid).
Kerry’s daughters Molly, 13, and Lilly Sue, 11 were also bridesmaids while Kerry’s younger daughter Heidi, seven, was a flower girl. Her son Maxwell, six, walked his mum down the aisle.
The newlyweds, who recently welcomed baby daughter Dylan-Jorge into the world are now talking about expanding their family even further. Watch this space!
