Is there ANYTHING Katie Hopkins won't do?
Love her or loathe her, Katie Hopkins tirelessly provides us with plenty of things to talk about. That’s why she’s been given her very own show – If Katie Hopkins Ruled The World – which premiered tonight (August 6) on TLC.
Now, just before we talk about the show, cast your mind back to January, when Gwyneth Paltrow told us all we should be steaming our vaginas. Oh, how we laughed. But Katie Hopkins went and did just that on the first episode of her new show, which also featured guests Gemma Collins and Paul Foot.
In a segment that sees Katie trying out various extreme beauty treatments, she squats over a small device that’s emitting steam on her intimate area. The faces she pulls suggests it’s not the calming and therapeutic experience Gwyneth Paltrow would have us believe, and after a few minutes, Katie asks to get off, declaring she could ‘cook an egg’ on her lady parts.
The therapist administering the treatment claims it’s good for one’s sex life – but there is no scientific evidence that vagina steaming has any benefits. In fact, some scientists have said it can actually be dangerous, like Dr Amos Grunebaum, a US gynacologist, who told the New York Daily News back in January that ‘the potential risks are much higher than the potential benefits’. He went on to say that some women have actually died from filling their foof with too much steam. Yikes.
Katie’s next treatment was decidedly less dangerous, but still involved her vagina – specifically, the therapist smearing a mixture of egg and honey on it.
‘I think I’ve had worse things done than a bit of egg smeared on it,’ Katie tells the viewers.
Goodness, we dread to think.
