Simon reckons Katy and John will bring in more X Factor viewers

Simon Cowell, 53, reckons he’s found a way to save the US X Factor.

He wants power couple Katy Perry, 28, and John Mayer, 35, as judges.

A source says: ‘Simon sees it as a brilliant pairing.

Katy‘s sassy, honest and a huge star, while John‘s more reserved.

‘Having them as rivals would be genius – if they had on-air bust-ups, it’d be unmissable.’

Katy was a guest judge on the UK X Factor in 2010 and Si‘s said: ‘She’d be fun because she’s hard – in a good way.’

Our source adds: ‘There’s a $20 million deal on the table.

‘Hiring Britney Spears didn’t work but this would be the first time a couple appeared on a judging panel together.’
