The X Factor boss defends his fellow judge’s recent weight loss, saying she isn’t starving herself
She shocked fans when she turned up at the X Factor auditions looking skinnier than usual, but Cheryl Fernandez Versini’s boss and close pal Simon Cowell has revealed that the star doesn’t have a problem with food.
Simon said: ‘This is not someone who’s trying to make herself thin. I think she did pick up a bug. And I think the way she’s approaching what was addressed about her weight in a very open way – by saying she is thin and is trying to put on weight – is great. I don’t think she would have done that two years ago.’
The 55 year old’s comments come after fans accused Cheryl of looking like a ‘bag of bones’ last month. At the time, the former Girls Aloud star, 32, hit back at trolls saying that the death of her husband’s father was a factor in her noticeably skinnier frame.
She wrote: ‘I am so sick and tired of it being ok to call somebody too thin or a ‘bag of bones’. I would never dream of calling somebody too fat and that they should maybe cut down on their food intake? What is the difference?’
She continued: ‘You have no idea what I have been through. Just losing my father in law v recently and everything that comes with that. Not that I am or should justify myself to anyone.
‘I’m so f***ing sick of people thinking it’s ok to be mean or body shame anyone. And it’s woman on woman. Have some respect and maybe think there may be reasons why before opening your mouth please.
She concluded the revealing statement with: ‘I am just tired of the ignorance…At some point it’s just enough. Some people are naturally thin. My mother is all of 4’11 and six stone something. And is incredible healthy and happy.’
On the negative posts Cheryl – who has been bonding with fellow judge Rita Ora’s dog Cherduring filming for the X Factor – recently commented, ‘It’s not nice but the thing is that I’ve been doing this for 13 years, but there are people out there going through similar things to me that feel the same thing, it hurts them. There are young girls out there and it shouldn’t be happening to them.’
On a lighter note, it looks like the star has been having a laugh during filming for the X Factor. She posted a fun picture of Olly Murs, Caroline Flack and new judge Nick Grimshaw fooling around backstage. We really can’t wait for the new series!
