Simon Cowell puts on a brave face for The X Factor red carpet in Manchester

The X Factor is back! And with it comes the all new line up alongsise vintage judges Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and Simon Cowell.

The shows creator, 55, put on a brave face as he faced the cheering crowds of fans and supporters in Manchester on Wednesday just three after the tragic news that his mother, Julie had passed away.

The X Factor 2nd round auditions was due to kick off on the 7th of July but were cancelled due to the sad news.

As the news broke celebrities such as Stacey Solomon and Sinitta took to Twitter to share their condolences. But it was great to see the music mogul looking strong and smiling as he wave to the fans.

On Tuesday Simon took to Twitter and spoke out for the first time:

It was reported that Simon’s mum Julie, 89, had been ill since Autumn. The pair were extremely close and he is said to be ‘devastated.’

The judging panel this year has had a revamp with two fresh faces, Rita Ora Nick ‘Grimmy’ Grimshaw joining veterans Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and Simon Cowell.

The 24-year-old ‘R.I.P’ singer, Rita, recently ditched The Voice for The X Factor and was reportedly encouraged to make the change by fellow Voice judge Ricky Wilson, 37.

Rita said ‘I am excited to be coming back. I had a ball here in 2012. This is a journey I can’t wait to embark on to find some talented singers.’

Grimmy despite continuing his Radio 1 show has made the shift into TV. He said ‘I love X Factor and have watched the series religiously since it started. So obviously I’m hugely excited to be joining the show.’

We’re absolutely gutted that Dermot O’Leary, 42, has parted from the show. His replacements Olly Murs, 31, and Caroline Flack’s, 35, return will surely not be one to miss. The pair both shared a cheeky throw back from the pairs first day 4 years ago.

Rochelle Humes and Melvin Odoom are this year with new Xtra Factor hosts

The 26-year-old The Saturdays singer Rochelle, admitted her excitement for the new job in mid June with a gushing tweet refering to the X Factor being her ‘dream job.’
