Benedict works hard on new scripts
Actor Benedict Cumberbatch admits he has a poor memory and has a tough time trying to remember his lines.
It’s something the amazing Sherlock star has always found difficult.
‘I really struggle to learn by rote and it led to meltdowns on set, which is embarrassing and shameful,’ says Benedict, 36.
‘It’s been a problem since I was a boy and had to spend double the amount of time learning things like French vocabulary.’
Benedict nearly missed out on the role of villain John Harrison in sci-fi flick Star Trek Into Darkness.
But he filmed a scene in his kitchen at home on a friend’s iPhone and send it to director JJ Abrams, who was impressed enough to give him the part.
‘It was that close, but I got lucky again,’ Benedict tells Entertainment Weekly.
‘I seem to be doing OK despite not being able to remember lines sometimes. In fact, it’s all a little daunting right now.’
