News of the death of Pete Burns has left many fans deeply upset, including several famous names who admired the star.
The Dead Or Alive singer passed away aged 57 on Sunday following a ‘massive cardiac arrest’, his team revealed on Monday, and tributes have been pouring in ever since from across the showbiz world.
Fellow 1980s pop star Boy George shared some fitting words when he Tweeted: ‘Tearful about the passing of @PeteBurnsICON he was one of our great true eccentrics and such a big part of my life! Wow. Hard to believe!’
Another 80s star, Marc Almond, wrote: ‘We’ve had some mad times with Pete but he was a one off creation,a fabulous fantastic brilliant creature and always sweet to me. #peteburns
‘…and one of Liverpool’s brightest lights. A world less strange and crazily colourful .#peteburns’
And Sinitta added: ‘Rest in Peace @PeteBurnsICON we had some laughs and some tears over the years .you were a sensitive soul and will be missed x’
Pete won even more fans when he appeared on Celebrity Big Brother in 2006 and several BB stars have since shared their thoughts on him.
Politician George Galloway Tweeted: ‘Sad to hear of the demise of Pete Burns. He was a cross between Oscar Wilde and Dorothy Parker. You don’t get more brilliant than that. RIP’
Former Big Brother presenter Davina McCall also reflected on her memories of the colourful singer.
‘So so sad to hear about Pete Burns … we partied hard in the 90s … RIP Pete x,’ she posted on Twitter.
Fellow CBB cast member Preston said: ‘Heartbroken to hear about Pete Burns. He was a true punk rocker and one of the kindest hearts I’ve ever know. Gutted. ‘
And later stars of Big Brother have shared tributes too, with host Emma Willis Tweeting: ‘So sad to hear the news about Pete Burns. You always knew you were in for a crackin show when he was on. Sweet dreams Pete’
