Jeremy Vine is the first celebrity confirmed to be taking part in Strictly Come Dancing 2015! Here's everything else you need to know about the new series, including when it starts, the presenters and all the other names rumoured to be on board
After months of waiting and speculation, we FINALLY have some official Strictly Come Dancing 2015 news!
The first celebrity taking part in this year’s series of the dancing show has been confirmed, and it’s got us all excited.
It was revealed this morning that BBC presenter and journalist Jeremy Vine has signed up to take part in the hit show when it returns this autumn.
So who is this Jeremy Vine fellow? Well, he hosts a weekday show on Radio 2, as well as quiz show Eggheads on BBC Two and Points of View on Sundays.
Speaking to fellow Radio 2 host Chris Evans as the news was revealed, Jeremy said: ‘How could I say no to the biggest show in TV? Yes, yes, yes and yes again to the sequins and the Samba!”
We hear ya, Jez!
But what else do we know about this year’s Strictly? Read on as we re-cap everything we know so far…
Who is taking part in Strictly Come Dancing 2015?
So far, the only celebrity confirmed to be taking part is Jeremy, but there is a long list of names rumoured to be in this year’s Strictly line-up.
They include Angie Best (AKA Calum Best’s mum), Peter Andre (ooh, just imagine those abs on display in a nice spangly shirt), Shane Filan (you know, him out of Westlife), Ed Balls (who has plenty of time on his hands since losing his seat in Parliament at the General Election earlier this year) and Loose Women panelist Jamelia.
There are also whispers that TV husband and wife team Richard and Judy could be taking part. PLEASE let this rumour be true!
Who is hosting Strictly Come Dancing 2015?
Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman will return to host the show full-time together for a second year.
Claudia was sadly forced to miss several weeks of the last series after her daughter Matilda suffered major injuries after her halloween costume caught fire, so hopefully this series will pass without incident.
Meanwhile, Zoë Ball will return as the host of BBC Two spin-off It Takes Two.
Which professional dancers are taking part in Strictly Come Dancing 2015?
The incredible gang of Strictly pros will return with a few notable differences.
Robin Windsor will not be returning to the show after missing out on last year’s series with a back injury, whilst Iveta Lukosiute and Trent Whiddon (paired with Thom Evans and Pixie Lott respectively on last year’s series) have also been axed.
Replacing them are three new dancers. They are Russian-born Dancing With The Stars favourite Gleb Savchenko, Italian Champion 2012 Giovanni Pernice and eight-times South African Latin American Champion Otlile Mabuse.
We can’t wait to check out their moves!
When does Strictly Come Dancing 2015 start?
The stars and their professional dancers are set to take to the Strictly sometime in September, so there’s not long to wait – eek!
