Jay McGuiness is Strictly Come Dancing's 2015 champion and has proudly raised the Glitterball trophy - Congratulations!
It’s been a series we truly won’t forget filled with glitter, fake tan, sequins, snake hips and of course Claudia Winkleman‘s truly awful, but totally brilliant jokes. (We love you Claudia!)
Jay and professional dancer Aliona held the Glitterball Strictly trophy high after battling it out against the other remaining couples during Saturday’s final. Speaking about being the winner Jay said ‘I feel spaced out – it’s been one of the most special things he’s ever done and with one of the most special people.’
Jay and Aliona’s final dance of the night was the pasa doble to Bon Jovi’s It’s My Life which gave them a final score of 39 from the judges.
Speaking about his experience of the show Jay said, ‘It’s the scariest thing I’ve ever done, but the most rewarding thing also.’
Speeding things up, Georgia and Giovanni danced their socks off doing the Charleston and got the perfect score of 40.
‘The show has given me the confidence that I didn’t have before,’ Georgia said. ‘I’m so proud of her,’ Giovanni added.
Georgia also ended up in tears as judge Craig said he’d happily have her perform in any of his west end musicals – which has been one of Georgia’s life long dreams!
The final couple to dance was Kellie and Kevin, who did their Star Wars themed Charleston and got a score of 39.
Kellie and Kevin made it to the final three along with Giovanni and Georgia and Jay and Aliona, but Katie Derham’s was the unlucky one who didn’t quite waltz right to the very end and left the final in fourth place after ending up at the bottom of the leader board.
Strictly certainly lived up to its name and failed to dissapoint this year. We mean, Anton Du Beck in the semi-final was enough to deal with, but Anton in the FINAL… too much. Katie all we can say is, you did good. The series saw also saw the unveiling of THE Jay McGuiness. The shy, quiet one from The Wanted right? Oh no, no! Step aside people, this man knows how to work the dancefloor and well, move things that we didn’t know could move…
It’s surely been a year to remember! Strictly 2015 you’ve been great, as always! Well done Jay!
Wow – watch Strictly’s Gleb strip off as sexy santa
