There was major drama after this weekend's Strictly

Strictly Come Dancing pro Gorka Marquez has been popular with viewers but unfortunately he’s now hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons.

The Spanish dancer was reportedly the victim of an unprovoked attack by a gang of youths in Blackpool on Saturday night after filming this weekend’s show and ended up having two teeth knocked out.

Gorka, 26, had been heading to a nightclub in the early hours with fellow Strictly pros Neil Jones and Aljaz Skorjanec when they were apparently set upon by the group.

A friend says: ’Gorka and a few of the other dancers were heading to a nightclub to let their hair down after another brilliant show.

‘All of a sudden this group of local louts came out of nowhere. One of them punched Gorka in the face and broke two of his teeth.’

It’s claimed that Gorka – who doesn’t drink – and the Strictly boys had made no contact with the gang before the attack happened.

‘This was an entirely random and shocking attack on a group of friends simply trying to enjoy a night out,’ the pal tells The Sun. ‘He wasn’t angry, he was just more shaken by the event.

‘They went straight back to the hotel to see if he needed urgent medical care before going back to London for dental surgery.’

The incident was not reported to the police, it’s alleged, and both Aljaz and Neil are said to have avoided the attack.

Gorka joined the Strictly line-up this year and danced with EastEnders’ Tameka Empson.

They were eliminated from the show in the early stages but Gorka has continued to appear in group dances and also stepped in for poorly Brendan Cole to perform with Anastacia on one occasion.

It looks like the incident won’t deter Gorka though as he’s set to return for next weekend’s show.

A Strictly spokesperson says: ‘Gorka was sadly the victim of an unprovoked incident in Blackpool on Saturday night but he will be back in training this week and is looking forward to the group routine next weekend.’
