How did he do it?! See how the Internet reacted to Joel Dommett's latest challenge
On Thursday night the 30-year-old stand up comedian had us all on the edge of our seats after taking on his biggest fear in yet another nail-biting Bushtucker Trial – ‘The Great Ascent’ and in a matter of moments he become one of the favourites to take the Jungle Crown!
Battling his biggest fear for the second time in the jungle, Joel put in a seriously impressive performance and earned all ten meals for his fellow camp mates managing to set off the last two flares with just two- seconds of the time left and Twitter went crazy.
Excited viewers gushed over the star’s heroic performance with one fan writing: ‘I feel like a proud parent watching Joel complete that trial’
While another added: ‘is anyone else really proud of Joel for doing this trial with a fear of heights?‘
Joel has made no secret of the fact that he’s absolutely terrified of heights (if you saw the first episode, you’ll remember him quivering as he balanced 300ft above Queensland), so of course the British public voted him to face the latest trial which saw him climbing across a 100ft tower while setting off flares… sounds simple, right?
On the way up a terrified looking Joel can be heard giving himself a motivational pep-talk, saying: ‘I’m absolutely fine, don’t think about it.
‘You’re completely fine Joel, you’re absolutely fine. I’m just chilling.’
But as the frame started to move in the wind, the star was visibly shaking and told himself: ‘Joel stop shaking’, as he reached out to grab a much-needed star.
After completely nailing the challenge, the comedian told Ant and Dec: ‘I’m so happy, I feel like Sandra Bullock at the end of ‘Gravity’, I’m so happy to make everyone proud.’
Meanwhile many viewers are also predicting an unexpected win for Joel, with one fan tweeting:
So who else is #TeamJoel?
