Fans reacted with shock over Millie Mackintosh's latest skinny pic, but she's not the only star stepping out looking tiny

When we wrote this week about Millie Mackintosh‘s apparent weight loss, after she posted a shockingly thin picture of herself on Instagram, the reaction from you all was one of total shock.

The 25-year-old former Made In Chelsea star has always been open about her love of exercise and diet – constantly tweeting about her latest juice diet or gym workout – but what happened to her previous mantra of #StrongNotSkinny? The backlash to Millie’s first picture doesn’t seem to have bothered the reality star though, as she’s since posted another picture of herself doing yoga, showing off her tiny frame once again…

But she’s not alone. We’ve written in this week’s issue of Now about the disturbing return of the thigh gap – and how it’s become even more extreme than ever. In our shocking report, we spoke to health and fitness expert, Nicki Waterman who told Now: ‘The obsession with having a thigh gap has taken on a new life of its own. It’s fuelling a very, very dangerous trend – which I worry could lead to eating disorders.’ Nicki also offers a chilling reminder: ‘Skinny doesn’t always mean fit.’

And as if we needed reminding, a number of celebs have been out recently looking alarmingly skeletal.

Stars including Alexa Chung, Kate Bosworth, Fearne Cotton, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Kendall Jenner, Nicole Richie and Kristin Cavallari all appear in our gallery above, after being papped in recent weeks looking thinner than ever.

After starting to witness a growing trend towards healthier and more ‘real’ body images (at long last) in the celeb world, let’s hope this isn’t the start off a worrying return to a time when stars felt they need to be too thin to look sexy.
