Bono is recovering in hospital after having emergency surgery on his back.
The U2 frontman had the operation at a Munich clinic on Friday.
‘Bono has undergone emergency back surgery for an injury sustained during tour preparation training,’ reads a statement on the band’s website.
‘He was admitted to a specialist neurosurgery unit in a Munich hospital, and is under the care of neurosurgeon Dr Jorg Tonn and Dr Muller Wohlfahrt.
‘Bono will spend the next few days there, before returning home to recuperate.’
U2‘s 360 tour concert in Salt Lake City, Utah, on 3 June has been postponed.
It is yet unclear if the band will be able to headline Glastonbury on Friday 25 June as planned.
