Superstar pop group The Saturdays may be taking a break from life as a five- piece, but already Una Healy is ready to take on her follow band mate Mollie King in the solo artist charts!

The flame-haired beauty has been quietly busy making music of her own, with fans eagerly awaiting the release of her debut solo album.

Her pop rock folk inspired tracks will mark a change in direction for the star, but she’s excited to be going it alone: ‘It’s going to be so challenging in a way because obviously we have had great success in that [The Saturdays.] But, at the same time I feel like I’m really going home back to my roots doing the music that I sort of set out doing like when I was 12 years old, so I’m just really really excited for it too.’

The Irish stunner is looking forward to going back to her singer-songwriter roots and beginning a ‘new chapter’ in her career. She revealed she still looks to her The Saturdays band-mates for support: ‘I’ve played a few songs for the girls and they all, they know what’s in store, they’re really excited for me and that so it’s great.’ But she’s not the only member of the girl group to be trying out a solo career, with fellow Saturdays Mollie King and Vanessa White both making their own music.

With Una’s album due to launch sometime this year, we’re sure her rugby ace husband Ben Foden and super cute children Aoife and Tadhg are very proud of her. We can’t wait to see the talented songstress take on the charts with her new tracks – this time all by herself.
