As she celebrates another award, Victoria Beckham reflects on her struggle to find herself
But instead of totally distancing herself from her pop star past, Victoria has actually been influenced by her former bandmates in a very special way.
The 41-year-old admits that her now hugely successful life as a fashion designer was a struggle to begin with and so she applied the Spice Girls’ values to help her succeed – awww!
‘I did have to find myself and my confidence,’ she says. ‘I want to make other women feel like the best version of themselves.
‘That’s the same message as the Spice Girls. It’s still Girl Power.’
Yay, the 90s spirit lives on! Thanks to the inspiring pro-women message she and fellow Spice Girls Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell, Mel B and Mel C put out, Victoria has gone from strength to strength in terms of her confidence.
Her fashion label has also become a global success, despite the fact that the designer herself says it’s never been an easy process.
‘Nothing ever came naturally to me,’ she tells US Glamour Magazine, who have named her as one of their Women Of The Year.
‘I was never the cleverest, never best at anything. But we always tell our children that if you work hard and believe in yourself, you can do what you want.’
She adds as a snippet of advice: ‘Work hard, stay focused, be appreciative, and really, really go for it.
‘I was told I couldn’t do lots of things, so if I can do it, you can.’
Go, Victoria Beckham, go! Having had such an influence on her, it’s only right that Posh’s fellow Spice Girls are proud of what she’s achieved.
Mel B has opened up about Victoria’s triumph, saying: ‘She’s broken the mould.
‘And she’s the funniest, naughtiest, dirtiest pal to sit next to at dinner.’
Someone put Wannabe on, let’s celebrate the fact that Girl Power is alive and well! *fist pump*
