It looks like everyone’s favourite Essex-based reality TV show might not be so real after all…
The TOWIE cast are currently filming series 19 in Marbella and, while we can’t wait to see what the gang gets up to, a video has surfaced online suggesting the ITVBe reality show isn’t a real as it seems…
Eagle eyed Instagram user Sarah2302Knowles spotted a group of people filming a bar scene for the show and shared a clip online – but, despite the fact the glamorous crowd can be seen throwing their best shapes, there isn’t any music playing!
She wrote alongside it: ‘Can’t believe TOWIE isn’t real and all staged.’
Of course Denise Van Outen reminds us at the beginning of every episode that ‘the people you see are all real although some of what they do has been set up purely for your entertainment’. We get that, but a group of people dancing in a bar to no music just takes the ‘set up’ element a bit too far.
It’s not the first time the BAFTA Award-winning series has been accused of being fake. Following his exit from the show, Italian stallion Mario Falcone told the Mirror: ‘I had to dwindle it down a bit when I did TOWIE. Once I said the world “discombobulated” and the whole crew said, “Mario, you can’t say that,” and I was like, “Why?”
‘They said, “The people who watch TOWIE won’t know what you’re talking about.” I confused Tommy Mallet.’
Meanwhile TOWIE original Lauren Goodger recently confirmed she is returning to the show on a full-time basis. During an appearance on Loose Women in August, Mark Wright’s ex-fiancée said: ‘I was meant to be in this series but couldn’t for personal reasons. But I will be back next series.’
