Or will Kim Kardashian just be a huge flop?
It’s a brave move for Kim Kardashian to try to resume her pop career. After all, her first attempt – Jam, a collaboration with The-Dream in 2011 – was nothing short of a nightmare, tanking even though half the proceeds went to charity.
But if the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star thinks her hubby Kanye will be grabbing the mic for a duet, she can think again. A source says: ‘Kanye is always supportive of anything Kim does and he’s happy to help out in the background.
‘He’ll gladly produce her and give her his expertise, but he’s ruled out them recording a “Bonnie And Clyde Part 3”. He’s not trying to make them into the next Jay-Z and Beyoncé. He’s real about that.’
Kim has other ideas, though. The source adds: ‘She thinks being a pop star is the sexiest thing in the world – and Beyoncé is her No 1 inspiration, other than Kanye of course.’
to think of a good stage name, though – Lil’ Kim‘s already taken.
The experts say…
The X Factor‘s Sam Callahan:
‘Good for Kim if she wants to become a pop star. I think the direction she should go in should be mainstream R&B/pop, but she shouldn’t rap. She needs to be true to herself, put out the music that she wants to and not be moulded into something she is not.’
Huna Eberendu from I The Stylist:
‘We’re all quite familiar with Kim‘s cleavage and derrière, so if she wants to be taken seriously, she needs to put them away and leave a little to the imagination. She should leave the flesh flashing to Rihanna and Miley Cyrus and opt for fitted, tailored pieces thatcinch her in at the waist. It can be difficult to find that fine line between sexy and not looking too mature – especially with her curves.’
Malcolm Mackenzie, Editor of We Love Pop:
‘Kim Kardashian would make a terrible pop star. Glamorous, rich girls make fantastic celebrities
and we love to follow their lives, but with music we want a bit of authenticity – something scripted reality stars know little about. Look at Paris Hilton and, to an extent, even Victoria Beckham – both stars with failed solo careers. Kim could have one big hit, but even with Kanye‘s support I’d be shocked if her album sold as well as her perfume.’
