Fabrice Muamba marries Shauna Magunda in a fairytale wedding in Peckforton Castle
Fabrice Muamba has married fiancée Shauna Magunda just seven months after the talented sportsman suffered a cardiac arrest on the football field at London’s White Hart Lane.
The couple planned to tie the knot next June, but brought the day forward after 24-year-old Fabrice’s brush with death on 17 March.
‘This year has been a difficult one but, to me, marriage is the happy ending,’ says Fabrice, who’s had to give up his career with Bolton Wanderers.
‘Something like that makes you realise how precious every day is, and how important it is to make the most of every moment.’
Fabrice met Shauna, 27, when she was a student at Birmingham City University and they are mum and dad to three-year-old son Joshua Jeremiah.
Among the guests at the ceremony at Cheshire’s Peckforton Castle was consultant cardiologist Dr Sam Mohiddin, who helped to save Fabrice’s life, despite his heart stopping for an astonishing 78 minutes.
‘You never know what is around the corner,’ Fabrice tells Hello! magazine.
‘It makes you appreciate life more, appreciate spending time with the people you love, and has definitely brought me and Shauna closer as a couple.’
