Macca to make New York heiress his bride

Sir Paul McCartney has popped the question to New York heiress girlfriend Nancy Shevell.

The Beatles legend, 68, was rumoured to be about to propose as early as 2009, but after 4 years together, he has now asked Nancy, 51, to be his bride.

‘She said yes immediately – it was a complete no-brainer,’ says a close friend. ‘The pair of them are head over heels in love and plan to wed as soon as possible.

Paul‘s children are absolutely delighted for him.’

The musician’s children – stepdaughter Heather, 48, Mary, 41, Stella, 39, James, 33, and Beatrice, 7, are all reported to get on well with Nancy, who was previously married to lawyer Bruce Blakeman and has a son.

Sir Paul finalised his divorce from Heather Mills in 2008. His first wife Linda died after battling breast cancer in 1998.

‘Nancy makes him so happy and the entire family love her so much,’ the insider tells the Daily Mirror.

‘She’s also discreet and keeps her mouth shut, which Heather certainly did not.’

A spokesman for Sir Paul has confirmed the good news.
