A just-released photo shows Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones as the rebooted Ghostbusters line-up
Hold on to your proton packs, because the a new picture of the all-female Ghostbusters lead cast has just dropped – and it’s as kick-ass as you’d expect!
The image – which popped up online this afternoon – shows stars Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones posing up a storm in the iconic Ghostbusters boiler suits.
They are pictured in what looks like an eerie hotel lobby, with smoke and green light all around them. And, from their confident poses, we can conclude that they definitely ain’t afraid of no ghost!
Set for release next summer, the film sees Bridesmaids stars Wiig and McCarthy – along with fellow SNL funny-women McKinnon and Jones – step into the roles made iconic by Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson in the 1984 original.
Rumours of the all-female line-up began earlier this year, after a remake starring the original cast was ruled out after Bill Murray wouldn’t commit.
But many of the classic film’s stars – including Lost In Translation star Bill, as well as Eighties superbabe Sigourney Weaver – are said to have filmed cameos for the 2016 reboot.
Fans quickly flooded social media with their reaction to the first image of the female cast.
One Twitter user wrote: ‘YES! ALL GIRL GHOSTBUSTERS! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️’
Another psoted: ‘Ohh that picture if the new ghostbusters, they look so awesome.’
A third had high praise indeed: ‘I may be more excited for the new Ghostbusters than the new Star Wars.’
Meanwhile, some uses appeared un-impressed with the whole thing, with one tweeting: ‘So not watching the new
Another wrote: ‘I hope the all-female Ghostbusters reboot proves once and for all women are as equally out of ideas as men.’
But another fired back: ‘The all female ghostbusters are exactly what the original were, great comedians coming mostly from SNL, so what’s the issue then?’
Personally, we’re just waiting to find out who gets cast as Slimer…
