Who could forget these Coronation Street stars?
ITV soap Coronation Street is set for another shake-up as actress Hayley Tamaddon has revealed that she will be quitting the show later this year.
Tissues at the ready guys, it’s an emotional day.
Hayley, who plays Andrea Beckett in the popular soap, joined the show back in 2013 (YES, time HAS gone that fast…) and will be leaving Weatherfield as part of a big storyline, which airs during a live episode this September.
Speaking about her departure, Hayley said:
‘I will be so sad to leave, I have had the best two years of my life here, it really is one big family. Everyone looks out for each other and I’ve made some incredible friends.’
So, could there ever be a potential return for Hayley?
‘Corrie has given me a great platform to hopefully go on to work on other dramas, but I’d never rule out a return to Weatherfield as I love it so much,’ confessed Ms Tamaddon.
Phew! We’re sure Hayley will still be all over our screens but as we struggle to get over this devastating news, here’s what became of four other Corrie faves…
Lucy-Jo Hudson AKA Katy Harris
Remember Katy? She arrived on the cobbles in 2002 as a member of the Corrie family that were placed under a witness protection program, meaning they couldn’t reveal their true identity. She was also diagnosed as diabetic and embarked on a relationship with Gail Platt‘s ex, Martin. Oh, and then Katy committed suicide and sadly left Corrie in 2005.
Since, Lucy-Jo, 31, bagged a role in ITV drama Wild At Heart playing Rosie Trevanion AND she was a regular presenter on Loose Women in 2005.
More famously, Lucy-Jo married her Corrie co-star Alan Halsall in 2009 and the cute couple welcomed their first child in September 2013; a beautiful daughter named Sienna.
Brian Capron AKA Richard Hillman
Any Coronation Street fan will remember the chilling moment when Richard Hillman drove the Platt family into a canal. It was undoubtedly one of THE most gripping moments in soap history.
Brian, 68, played Richard from 2001-2003 and has since gone on to appear in a number of West End shows.
Brian starred alongside Suzanne Shaw in The Rocky Horror Show in 2007 and also bagged a part on the Guys And Dolls tour that same year opposite Claire Sweeney.
Suranne Jones AKA Karen McDonald
Suranne joined the street in 2000 and played feisty, fiery and independent woman Karen McDonald, who was certainly NOT afraid to stand-up to her rival, Tracy Barlow. Oh and she sure kicked hubby Steve into line! When she quit the cobbles in 2004 Suranne, 36, took on a more serious role in ITV detective drama series, Vincent. She’s also appeared in Doctor Who and later bagged a lead part in another ITV detective show, Scott And Bailey in 2011, playing DC Rachel Bailey.
Suranne isn’t just a TV star though y’no? She’s also landed several roles on stage.
Aside from work, the stunning brunette lives in Manchester but spends most of her time in London. Oh, and she has a Jack Russell Terrier called Baxter. Cute!
Rob James-Collier AKA Liam Connor
Rob‘s face adorned the bedroom walls of many young girls. Well, we can’t say we’re surprised as he is GORGEOUS.
The 38-year-old actor joined Weatherfield in 2006 as Michelle Connor‘s brother and ended up marrying hairdresser Maria. Rob left two years later in 2008 after being killed off the show.
FYI – in that time Rob actually bagged the Sexiest Male award in 2007. Just saying.
So what has Rob been up to since?
Well, he landed the role of Thomas Barrow in Downton Abbey in 2010 and has continued to appear in the series. Not bad, not bad…
