Monica Michael has been announced as the wild card on the X Factor after getting booted out of the competition by Rita Ora
Despite singing a very emotional self-penned track at Judge’s Houses, when she got booted out of the competition by mentor Rita Ora, it looked it was the end of the X Factor road for contestant Monica Michael.
But of course, there is that sneaky little Wild Card! And lo and behold, feisty Monica is back in our lives.
Before she returns back on our screens this weekend though, here are 6 things that you need to know about this year’s wild card choice, Monica:
1.) Second chance
Monica has auditioned for the X Factor before last year, but only got as far as boot camp, and now Cheryl has said that Monica is biggest regret. ‘Can I ask you one thing? Why didn’t you do that for me last year? I could kill you right now!’
2.) Claim to fame
The X Factor’s not the first time that Monica’s appeared on TV though. When she was teeny-tiny at five-years-old, she went on Michael Barrymore’s My Kind of People and sang Celine Dion’s Think Twice in front of hundreds of people in a shopping mall in Croydon. Ooh, fancy! ‘When I came off the stage, I was like “Oh, I like that” and I’ve never looked back since.’
3.) Blue’s backing
Monica’s needn’t worry about having support on the show. As well as plenty of people tweeting her love, she’s also got the backing of boyband Blue. Not only have they shared their support for her, but they seem to also be pretty good buddies with Monica having loads of selfies with them and even holding hands with Lee Ryan – N’aww!
4.) Single pringle!
And despite rumours and loads of speculation that any hand-holding with Lee Ryan is romantic, Monica is well and truly single right now – and in the words of Natasha Bedingfield – and that’s how she wants to be.
5.) Family tragedy
Monica sang an emotional self-penned track dedicated to her brother at judge’s houses, who sadly died last year in the middle of her time on the X Factor when he drowned in a hotel swimming pool while on holiday in Ayia Napa.
6.) What’s my age again?
And just for good measure and in case you’re wondering, Monica has just turned the grand ol’ age of 26!
