Despite being in one of the most successful boybands of all time, the 23-year-old was hiding a risky secret. The star admits that the his food intake was ‘the one thing in his life he could control’ while touring with Simon Cowell‘s label Syco-signed band.
He wrote in his new autobiography Zayn: ‘Something I’ve never talked about in public before, but which I came to terms with since leaving the band, is that I was suffering from an eating disorder.
‘It wasn’t as though I had any concerns about my weight or anything like that, I’d just go for days – sometimes two or three days straight – without eating anything at all.

‘I had lost so much weight I had become ill. The workload and the pace of life on the road put together with the pressures and strains of everything going on within the band had badly affected my eating habits.’
The star announced that he was quitting the band in 2015 after breaking up with Little Mix star Perrie Edwards by TEXT.
Whereas the girlband singer has been quite vocal about the break up, yet Zayn barely even mentions it in his book.
The Pillowtalk singer isn’t the only person to come out of the X Factor with an eating disorder.
Former Kingsland Road singer Joe Conaboy claimed in a series of tweets that the show left him with depression, anxiety and a eating disorder.
