See how the One Direction singer's mane has changed

When it comes to hair, Zayn Malik isn’t afraid to try different styles.

As our gallery shows, the One Direction singer has changed his dark locks numerous times since first coming to fame on The X Factor in 2010.

He switches his coiffure up with edgy cuts, cool dye jobs and fashionable accessories.

Our first picture sees a young Zayn performing on the talent show in October 2010. His neat crop looks super-glossy and features a sweeping fringe.

Despite winning millions of fans with this short ‘do, the Bradford-born star is quick to give himself a makeover.

By March 2011, he’s rocking cropped sides. He then steps out with a huge quiff that October.

Zayn is clearly a fan of having a voluminous front section. A rockabilly roll gives him an old-school charm in September 2012 and he works a punky mohawk in December 2013.

In March 2014, Zayn Malik‘s hair is brushed back to create a dramatic blow-dried look.

Zayn also enjoys experimenting with colour. A platinum blond streak – which he pairs with a slick of sexy eyeliner – adds interest to his tendrils in November 2012.

However, it seems he prefers having an all-over shade as his chunky highlight has disappeared by January 2013.

This month marks a big change for Zayn when he smooths his usually supersized bouffant down into flat spikes. That August, he adds texture by tousling the ends of the more low-key cut.

Reverting back to his more well-known hair, Zayn Malik steps out with his thick bristles teased high on top of his head in November 2013.

Towards the middle of 2014, Zayn begins to grow out his strands and by that October he’s sporting a drastically different look. He pulls his locks into a low ponytail with a headband.
