Celebs who've become proud mums and dads this year
It’s always exciting when a star baby arrives in the world.
We love finding out the news that a celebrity has given birth. It’s great to hear that they’ve had a little boy or girl – or perhaps more than one child. Tennis player Roger Federer now has two sets of twins.
The first couple celebrating in our 2014 gallery are Peter Andre and Emily MacDonagh. They greet a daughter named Amelia on 7 January.
‘Mum and baby are doing well. Thanks to everyone at Musgrove Park Hospital :))),’ writes Pete on his website.
Others to have celebrity baby news at the start of the year include Katherine Kelly and Ryan Clark, Nadine Coyle and Jason Bell and Simon Cowell and Lauren Silverman.
Later in the year, Katie Piper and her boyfriend James meet daughter Belle and Kerry Katona and George Kay say hello to girl Dylan-Jorge.
Katie Price and Kieran Hayler become parents to another nipper together, while Christina Aguilera has a second tot.
When celebrities become parents, they choose to tell the world in various different ways.
Some prefer to release formal statements and try to keep their star baby hidden from the limelight until they’re a little older.
Zara Phillips and her husband Mike Tindall choose this method, as do Drew Barrymore and Will Kopelman.
Others decide to reveal their happy celebrity baby news directly to fans on their social media sites.
‘Our baby boy is finally here! Booker Jombe Parker. Born joyously at home yesterday,’ Tweets Thandie Newton in March.
The majority of these celebrity baby bundles of joy are given traditional names.
Emily Blunt and John Krasinski call their daughter Hazel, while Michelle Heaton has son Aaron with hubby Hugh Hanley.
But a few give their star baby a more unusual moniker.
McFly’s Tom Fletcher now has a son named Buzz Michelangelo and Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale are smitten with boy Apollo Bowie Flynn.
