The 2015 Emmy Awards were the talk of Los Angeles last night

Last night’s Emmy Awards saw history being made – literally. Viola Davis, who stars as a lawyer in the ABC series How To Get Away With Murder, became the first black woman to win an Emmy for a leading role.

As well as Viola’s epic win, the Emmys also saw Game Of Thrones scoop Outstanding Drama Series and Peter Dinklage, who plays Tyrion Lannister, taking the award for Outstanding Supporting Actor.

Orange Is The New Black’s Uzo Aduba took Oustanding Supporting Actress, while Amy Schumer won a gong for her comedy sketch show, Inside Amy Schumer.

On the red carpet, though, it was Lady Gaga who commanded the most attention. The usually outlandish star, famed for her meat dresses and telephone hats, looked positively demure in a plain black gown and blonde bob. The cutaway back of her dress showed her tattoos, which added some alternative glam to her look.

Cat Deeley also showed off her baby bump for the first time as she walked the red carpet with Patrick Kielty. The pair recently revealed they’re expecting their first child, and looked delighted as they arrived at the awards.

Not everyone had nailed it in the style stakes, though. Heidi Klum sported a banana-yellow mesh affair that was more Nineties disco than awards show, while Maggie Gyllenhaal chose a strapless ballgown in a lurid shade of lilac.
