It seems #TheDress has sweeped the nation, and the world… but what’s it all about?

If you haven’t seen much about it already, #TheDress has thrown social media into quite a frenzy on this sunny Friday morning.

It’s a dress that some people see as blue and black and others see as white and gold. So, like, totally diffferent! So which team are you on?

The debate all started when a Tumblr user called Swiked asked people on her social media site to solve an argument over what colour #TheDress actually is.

She wrote ‘guys please help me – is this dress white and gold, or blue and black?‘ And while the world all weighed in, stars like Kim Kardashian, Taylor Swift, Cheryl and even Bieber got involed!

But it wasn’t just the celebs who were baffled, huge companies like Adobe got involed and even Pizza Hut gave their opinion too! So now all the experts are talking about it. There are even some hilarious mimes of the dress which have had us LOLing in the office. Who doesn’t want to see the dancing sharks from Katy Perry‘s Super Bowl performance in #TheDress?

Kim Kardashian said: ‘What color is that dress? I see white & gold. Kanye sees black & blue, who is color blind?’ Well, Kanye‘s just had his own fashion show and apparently styles his wife Kim so he must know!

Taylor Swift also added: ‘I don’t understand this odd dress debate and I feel like it’s a trick somehow. I’m confused and scared. PS it’s OBVIOUSLY BLUE AND BLACK.’ We are too Taylor, don’t worry!

Cheryl Fernandez-Versini also weighed into the argument saying: ‘This is WHITE AND GOLDDDDD!!!’ Okay, Chez, no need to shout!

Jaden Smith, son of Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, went all philosophical on us and said: ‘how can mirrors be real if our eyes aren’t real’ – woah! Too deep for a Friday pal!

Caitlin McNeill, the girl who originally posted the picture of the dress spoke to Buzzfeed about #TheDress before her band were going to perform at a friends’ wedding in the Hebrides.

Apparently, a week before the wedding, the mother of the bride posted a picture of what she was planning to wear – of course we’re talking about #TheDress and it seemed to look blue and black! I mean WTF?! It looks white and gold, right?

Caitlin said: ‘I showed my band who were playing at the wedding with me, and we fell out trying to decide what the problem was. We almost didn’t make it on stage because we were caught up discussing this dress

So, still undecided? Is the dress blue and black or white and gold…? We can confirm that the dress is actually… blue and black. And if you want to buy it for yourself, it’s from Roman Originals – royal blue with beautiful black lace detail and is £50.
