One Direction boost sales in kooky jumpsuits
And OnePiece‘s Norwegian co-creator Thomas Adam isn’t remotely surprised.
‘Harry Styles and the One Direction boys created a great buzz for us,’ he admits.
‘We’ve seen a steady growth, and Britain has definitely been a market that’s grown well in the last 12 months.’
It looks like Thomas is having the last laugh after the launch of the brand in 2007.
‘My friends Henrik, Knut and I were working in fashion at the time. One hungover Sunday we were lying on the sofa, in our sweatpants and hoodies but they kept riding up, so we sewed them together,’ he recalls.
‘But then he couldn’t get out of it, so we cut him out of it, and the OnePiece was born. It looked so cool we all thought, “We want one of those!”
‘We made them for ourselves and for our friends, and we wore them on a night out in Norway. Everyone loved them and asked us where they could buy them, so we thought, “Let’s make a brand!”‘
With OnePiece jumpsuits a must-have in every celebrity’s off-duty wardrobe, Thomas reckons it’s about time the Royal family discovered the Onesie.
‘I’d love to see Prince Charles, William, Harry and Kate Middleton wearing OnePiece jumpsuits at Christmas.’
We bet Pippa Middleton‘s bum would look great in one too!
