My Friday feature revealing who I’ve loved and loathed over the last seven days in showbiz

Whatever you think of the Take That star as an X
judge, no one can deny the incredible effort Gary Barlow put in to make the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Concert such a success this week.

No other current chart star would have the gravitas to attract a line-up that included Sir Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder, Sir Tom Jones, Elton John and his duet partner Cheryl Cole.

He has clearly gained the respect of the Royal Family, something he earned with the thought, time and energy put into
his jubilee single Sing, which should deservedly go to No 1 on the
singles and album chart on Sunday.

As I said earlier in the week, Simon Cowell must be breathing a sigh of relief ITV didn’t let him get his way when he wanted to sack Gary from The X Factor panel last year.

That would have looked like a pretty embarrassing decision about now.

I don’t want to say too much about this because I have a great respect for Myleene Klass – one of the most professional, hardworking, passionate and genuine people in British showbusiness.

But for her husband Graham ‘Gray’ Quinn to leave such a lovely woman (not to mention the mother of his children) on her 34th birthday was plain wrong.

My thoughts are with Myleene as she has to deal with such a personal situation in a very public manner.

Gray needs to take a long look at himself.
