My weekly feature revealing who I've loved and loathed over the last seven days in showbiz

HERO: ADELE

She’s done it again!

Despite being heavily pregnant and on a self-imposed break from the music industry, Adele has only just gone and recorded the most memorable Bond theme tune in over a decade.

The title track to Skyfall, the new James Bond movie that is in cinemas later this month, was premiered this morning at 0.07 (that’s seven past midnight, of course), 50 years to the day since the release of the first film in the famous franchise.

It puts the 24-year-old in a super-elite group of musicians who have recorded Bond songs over the last five decades, including Madonna, Paul McCartney, Shirley Bassey, Lulu, Sheryl Crow and Tom Jones.

My favourite ever Bond song is Tina Turner‘s 1995 classic GoldenEye, which was written by Bono and The Edge from U2. But I think Adele might just make me reconsider that.

VILLAIN: NICKI MINAJ

Dannii vs Sharon. Tulisa vs Kelly. Simon vs Ellen. Louis vs Cheryl.

I’m all for personal and professional battles on the judging panels of our favourite TV talent shows.

But the shocking and dramatic video of Nicki Minaj tearing into Mariah Carey on the judging panel of American Idol this week crossed the line, in my opinion. It was threatening and unprofessional.

I would not blame Mariah – one of the biggest recording artists in history, remember – if she didn’t feel comfortable continuing to work alongside her.

That said, I cannot wait to see how producers deal with the incident on theshow, which will now screen in the UK on 5USA next year.
